Biography

Hillary Iza Seminick, AICP
Planning Director + Floodplain Manager with Gunnison County

Hillary's planning focus in rural and resort mountain communities has led to a passion to address inequities and challenges facing these cherished places, such as housing attainability, economic diversity, multi-modal connectivity, climate change, and community resiliency, while educating local leaders and community members about the intersectionality of these issues. Her experience reaches from the mountains of Colorado across the nation, with 18 years of experience in both the private and public sectors in current and long-range planning, affordable housing development, environmental planning, wetland and threatened endangered species consultation, floodplain management, GIS analysis, community engagement, and transportation planning.

A self-admitted policy dork, she is an enthusiastic member of the APA-Colorado Legislative Committee. Hillary earned a BS in Geography from Florida State University. When she’s not going down a Planetizen rabbit hole, she enjoys mountain biking, skiing, cooking, trail running, chess, scuba diving, and exploring the mountains around Crested Butte with her Plott Hound/Lab, Driggs.
