Richard Douglas has over 20 years of local government management experience, currently serving as the County Administrator in Sussex County since September 2020. He has served as a County Administrator, City Manager, and Town Manager in Virginia, North Carolina, and Georgia, after beginning his career in state, regional and federal environmental policy and planning. He holds a Master of Planning from the University of Virginia, and a BS in Public Administration and Political Science from James Madison University, and is an ICMA credentialed manager and a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
