Assistant Director of Community Development for the City of Fort Myers

Tony Palermo, AICP, has been an active participant and leader in APA Florida for over 20 years. He served as APA Florida Chapter Vice President for Section Affairs and two terms as Chair of the Promised Lands Section in SW Florida. He is the Assistant Director of Community Development for the City of Fort Myers and served as staff liaison to the Lee County Emergency Operations Center during Hurricane Ian (which was bad). He has been an AICP member since 2007 and was a reporter for the Charlotte Sun Herald in Charlotte County Florida prior to working in local government as a planner and project coordinator. Tony has a B.A. in Political Communication – 1991 - and an MPA in Public Administration -- 1993 – both from the George Washington University in Washington D.C. He grew up in Sarasota, Florida – much of it on the lovely island of Siesta Key.
