Senior Planner/Zoning Officer for the Borough of State College
Gregory J. Garthe, AICP is a Senior Planner/Zoning Officer for the Borough of State College. Greg’s responsibilities include subdivision and land development review, permit review, interpretation of the zoning ordinance, preparation of zoning amendments, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support for the Planning Department, as well as providing staff support to various boards and commissions.
Prior to joining the Borough, Greg was a Senior Planner for the Centre Regional Planning Agency, a Transportation/Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Program Manager and GIS Specialist with the Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission, and a Mapping/Addressing Technician with Huntingdon County, PA.
A native of central Pennsylvania, Greg earned a B.A. in Communications and a Postbaccalaureate Certificate in GIS from Penn State University. Greg earned his AICP Certification in 2018 and was the recipient of a 2022 ESRI Special Achievement in GIS Award on behalf of the State College Borough Planning Department.
